Heavy Spending

Here’s my new cartoon on the heavy spending in President Biden’s Infrastructure Bill.  I’m seeing inflation everywhere (except in official reports of the inflation rate). A whole lot of borrowed money has been pumped into the economy by Trump, and now Biden.

I haven’t drawn many conservative cartoons over the Trump years, but looking back on Obama’s eight years I was drawing a lot of cartoons that criticized Obama. Cartoonists like to criticize and with Democrats controlling Congress and the presidency, more of our CagleCartoonists, who aren’t know of drawing conservative cartoons, are drawing conservative cartoons.  Here are a few examples …

John Darkow

Ed Wexler

Bar van Leeuwen

Taylor Jones

Trump Doggie!

Here’s my new cartoon, “What the Doggie Hears”.

I’ve actually drawn quite a few Trump Doggies. I remember when Trump hired his The Apprentice contestant, Omarosa, in the White House, then he called her a “dog” and she bit back, writing a tell-all book.

Here is Trump as Putin’s dutiful doggie, when Trump was congratulating Putin on his re-election.

Here’s a Christmas cartoon from 2016 with Trump and former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson as Putin presents.

Here are some of my favorite Trump Doggies from the CagleCartoonists. This one is from Bill Day.

Here’s a Trump doggie oldie with ex-Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan, by Ed Wexler.

Here is a great one from Taylor Jones.

This one with Trump and France’s President Macron is by Dutch cartoonist Joep Bertrams.

Spineless!

Here’s today’s cartoon about the spineless Republicans who are backing Trump’s baseless claims of voter fraud and his refusal to recognize that Joe Biden won the election.

And here’s my cartoon as it appeared in The Washington Post this morning, 11/18/20.

“Spineless” cartoons are a favorite cliché for editorial cartoonists. Here’s a spineless cartoon that I drew about President Obama’s Middle East policy many years ago.

Here’s a 25 year old spineless oldie from my TRUE! cartoons, a syndicated newspaper feature that I drew back in 1995.

I took a quick look at the vast PoliticalCartoons.com archives for  my favorite spineless cartoons by the CagleCartoonists.

This 13 year old spineless oldie is from Monte Wolverton.

This three year old spineless oldie comes from Adam Zyglis.

This Dave Whamond spineless Mitch McConnell cartoon is a recent classic.

Don Quixote Trump

President Trump is chasing his “impossible dream” of finding widespread election fraud that could turn the election in his favor. To me, that sounds like time for another Don Quixote cartoon – a favorite trope of the international cartoonists.

I worried a little about whether VP Mike Pence would be recognizable as Sancho Panza, but then I decided that this is probably my best caricature of Pence – it must be how Picasso would have drawn Pence.

I took a look in the vast CagleCartoons archives to find a few more quixotic cartoons, and these are my favorites.

The first one is by our Chinese cartoonist, Luojie, who draws the Chinese government line for The China Daily newspaper. Luojie thinks the USA and EU are chasing windmills with their Chinese trade sanctions.

Our Swedish CagleCartoonist Riber Hanssen has a more complex, but similar point of view with Don Quixote, a fire hose and an impossible dream of extinguishing the Chinese dragon.

Our CagleCartoonist from Oaxaca, Mexico, Dario Castillejos, has Don and Sancho doing a selfie.

Angel Boligan from Mexico City draws Quixote and the media.

Michael Kountouris from Greece sees gender equity as an impossible dream.

Finally, here’s the famous, original Pablo Picasso drawing that inspired my parody cartoon.
