The Real March Madness: Top 10 Political Cartoons of the Week

Will the U.S. ever learn?

That’s basically the gist of our most popular cartoons this week, which sharply mocked Donald Trump’s war in Iran – the “real” March Madness, according to Dave Granlund. Like other conflicts in the Middle East, Trump’s “little excursion” into Iran doesn’t appear to have an endgame and threatens to drag on and on.

One of our most-popular cartoons this week, drawn by conservative cartoonist Gary McCoy, transformed a couple’s bathtub into a strategic petroleum reserve. Another popular one came from the pen of Monte Wolverton, who imagined pro-war oil executives rolling around in piles of money like charmless Scrooge McDucks.

While the focus was almost entirely on the war in Iran this week, our most-popular cartoon was a John Darkow special about the crazy swings in temperature across much of the country. At least it was a momentary distraction from the rising prices at the pump.

Here are our top ten most reprinted cartoons of the week:

We put together a great new slideshow of over 100 of the best, new Iran cartoons – take a look!  There are no talking cartoonists (as many of you request).  Just great cartoons.

Here are our top ten most reprinted cartoons of the week:

The war in Iran has been raging for nearly a week, enough time for the nation’s top cartoonists to weigh in on America’s latest conflict in the Middle East.

Our most-reprinted cartoon about the war this week comes from Gary McCoy and features a relatable father worrying about his son’s future as missiles fly.

Other popular cartoons touched on some of the many ramifications of the war at home – the skyrocketing price of gas, the lack of a clear reason why we had to launch an attack now, and the weird pseudo-gambling prediction markets letting people bet on life and death.

Here are our top ten most reprinted cartoons of the week:
