At times I wish we could go back to the days when extremists with the lowest intelligence and loudest voices didn’t have digital megaphones spreading their garbage.
Our most popular cartoon of the week by far, drawn John Darkow, touches on that thought. Darkow turns to Winnie the Pooh and Piglet in a touching cartoon to subtly criticize all the venom and hatred dominating much of our culture.
Another popular cartoon, drawn by Dave Whamond, put a spotlight on wealthy tech overlords squeezing all the “ordinary-aires” who can’t afford groceries. Editors also seemed to like a number of cartoons about how one of those billionaires, Jeff Bezos, unceremoniously gutted the staff of the Washington Post.
Democracy does die in the darkness after all.
