Greedy, For-Profit Colleges

Here’s my cartoonist daughter Susie, with a cartoon article bashing greedy, for-profit colleges.

These schools are morally reprehensible, but they have a right to exist. What they don’t have a right to is being largely financed by tax dollars.

I taught at Phoenix once. Their philosophy was totally warped. The teacher doesn’t impart knowledge. The teacher is just a “guide” to offer ideas for communication. The students are given “exercises” and email each other in teams. and all of this is supposed to allow them to “discover” the knowledge of the subject. The teacher doesn’t lecture by telling them the research and facts, they are supposed to somehow find these things through their own thinking.
