Top Ten Cartoons of the Week – July 24, 2021

Here are our most reprinted cartoons of the week ending  July 24th, 2021. Congratulations to Bob Englehart who took the the #1 spot!  And congrats to Chris Weyant who nabbed #2!

And kudos to the other CagleCartoonists who drew the cartoons that were most popular with editors this week: Steve Sack, Dave Whamond, Dave Granlund, John Darkow, Rick McKee, Monte Wolverton, John Cole and Jeff Koterba!

Just about half of America’s daily, paid circulation newspapers (around 700 papers) subscribe to CagleCartoons.com. These are the cartoons that editors picked last week.

Monte Wolverton nabs seventh place.  Monte is the son of Basil Wolverton, who was one of the original gang of idiots at Mad Magazine. Monte has also done a bunch of work for Mad Magazine.

Mothers Day Top Ten Cartoons – May 8, 2021

Here are our ten most reprinted cartoons of the week ending May 1st, 2021. This is the week that led up to Mothers Day, which is always popular with editors.

Dave Granlund took the most reprinted cartoon spot at #1 with a Mother’s Day vaccine cartoon. Mothers Day also took the #6 and #7 spots by John Darkow and Dick Wright.

Congratulations to Jeff Koterba for claiming two spots in the Top Ten. And kudos to the other cartoonists who made the Top Ten this week, Dave Whamond, Adam Zyglis, RJ Matson, Steve Sack and me (Daryl Cagle).

Jeff Bezos and David Pecker

Here’s my new cartoon on the world’s richest man, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, and the National Enquirer’s (AMI) CEO David Pecker, who was blackmailing Bezos. Pecker’s AMI was extorting Bezos, demanding that the Washington Post (which Bezos owns) hold back publication on their investigation of AMI, and that Bezos stop a private investigator he hired to look into AMI – otherwise they would publish photos of Bezos’ penis. Bezos was brave to expose Pecker’s extortion.

It is interesting that Pecker and AMI seems to have such success with blackmail that his attorneys didn’t step back to think of what would happen if the person they were blackmailing simply made their emails public.

AMI is looking pretty sleazy these days, with likely links to Saudi Arabia, and a reported safe full of Donald Trump secrets, among other tawdry stuff. So, I took advantage of Pecker’s dickish name and pulled Pecker’s pants down. Some cartoons are fun to draw – even if editors won’t publish them much.
