Dr. Fauci – Part 1

Dr. Anthony Fauci, President Trump’s expert on infectious diseases, has become a familiar face at the frequent, White House coronavirus news conferences –however he seems to be appearing less and less at these events as scientists don’t seem very comfortable working alongside the president. Fauci is an omnipresent TV presence and, more and more, a cartoon character.  Here is part one of two collections of the best of our Dr. Fauci cartoons. Be sure to visit Dr Fauci PART 2.

Sarah Sanders

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders got caught up in the Mueller Report last week where she admitted, under oath, to lying to the press. She called the lie a “slip of the tongue” even tough she had repeated the lie a number of times, that “countless” members of the FBI contacting her to say they had lost confidence in FBI Director James Comey who the President fired. Here’s my cartoon.

This is actually the first time I’ve drawn Sarah Sanders. She is great fun to draw, and since she’s on television all the time it would seem that I would draw her often. Maybe I will draw her more –we’ll see if she lasts.

Sanders’ uneven, “smokey” eyes and shapeless form are fun, but her asymmetric mouth isn’t really that big, certainly not big enough for a tongue so huge that she can slip on it. I took a look at how other cartoonists have drawn Sanders.

This one is by Sandy Huffaker. Sandy used to be a regular in the CagleCartoons syndicate and he has retired, but he draws a new one once in a while. I grew up watching Sandy’s work in Time Magazine when I was in school. He should come out of retirement!

This one is by my buddy, Taylor Jones. It’s all about the eyes.

This one by Pat Bagley catches her very simply.

This one is by Steve Sack, who catches her without one big eye.

Here’s one by Adam Zyglis of the Buffalo News.

Here’s one more, from New Yorker cartoonist, Chris Weyant, who draws symmetrical eyes, flops her mouth and adds a few pounds and loses a few pearls, but still captures her.

Chaos

I love how the long, red tie has become a standard cliché for editorial cartoonists. It is much more fun the the big ears on Obama and George W. Bush. Everyone thought that Trump’s hair would be the thing that drew the cartoonists together. The long tie is even more fun than Clinton’s dropped pants and boxer shorts with the little hearts.

Trump is arguably more sexually indiscriminate and profligate than Clinton, but the sex issues don’t seem to stick to Trump as easily as they did to a blue dress.

I like the idea of the president tied up into a Gordian Knot. I did the same thing to Obama some years ago, and used it as the cover of my Obama Coloring Book – check out all of my coloring books at CagleBook.com.

WhiteFish and the White House

Every so often a really stinky fish looms over the White House. I have to draw a similar cartoon every seven years or so. Today’s stinky fish is “Whitefish Energy,” the two employee company in WhiteFish, Montana that happened to win a $300,000,000 exclusive contract from Puerto Rico to maintain their electrical system. Why this little company won a contract like this is a mystery to the White House. Interestingly, the tiny town of Whitefish, Montana (population 7.279) is the hometown of the Secretary of the Interior, Ryan Zinke, and some are wondering if this could be a reason why the little company landed this big contract. Here’s an article with some other interesting Whitefish facts.

Whitefish Energy employs about 300 contractors who are working on tens of thousands of miles of downed power lines in powerless Puerto Rico. Not nearly enough people for the job, but their exclusive contract is keeping more workers out. Sounds stinky to me.

In the past my stinky fish has reared its rotting head for both the Obama and George W. Bush administrations. Here’s my stinky Solyndra fish from 2011, depicting a stinky green energy company that blew through $500 million dollars of taxpayer subsidies before turning belly up.

The stinky fish for the Bush administration in 2007 was the Iraq war …

It looks like we should expect another fish to descend in another five or six years. Keep your eye (or nose) out for it.

10/30/17
Here’s how my Whitefish cartoon looks today in USA Today.

Twitter Poop

President Trump suffers from his impulsive Tweeting. Earlier this week he was accusing President Obama of wire-tapping his phones in a series of tweets that blew back to bite him.

A number of cartoonists have drawn the twitter bird flying over and pooping on Trump. I thought a giant Twitter bird would be funny, because it would poop more. And trump is one of those rare characters tho is recognizable even with his face covered in bird poop.

I didn’t live-stream this drawing, but I colored it, along with the last cartoon, in the video below. Come watch!

More Leaky Trump!

Leaks are still a big White House story – so here’s my second “leaky Trump” cartoon. I drew this live on Twitch.tv/darylcagle and a chatting fan suggested that I should make the tap out of gold. It is true, Trump would have a golden tap.

See me draw the Trump Tap cartoon in real time, in the video below.

I colored this one with Photoshop in the same session as the previous leaking Trump cartoon. Take a look in the video below …

Hillary’s E-mail Scandal

I don’t quite understand the Hillary e-mail scandal. There was no law against her using her own e-mail at the time she did it. She had her own e-mail server and 50,000+ emails, but I also have my own e-mail server and 50,000+emails, so it doesn’t seem so strange to me. And if she hadn’t had her own server, all of her emails would Surely have been stolen and revealed by Edward Snowden, so in retrospect, it seems prudent. Much ado about nothing, I think.

E-mail is always a great topic for cartoons.

I’ve been thinking of updating the Hillary-general cartoon below to add an e-mail medal, and take out the stale medals about 2008 election news that everyone has forgotten (like “Michigan” and “Florida”). I drew this one when the daily pundit babble was about Hillary claiming she would make a much better commander in chief, compared to Obama.

I suspect Hillary would have been much more of a hawk than Obama, and would have gotten us much more mixed-up into the middle East muddle. If I had to choose between Hillary and goofy Rand Paul, I think I would vote for Rand Paul, just because I trust that he really don’t want our military meddling around the globe.

I remember back in 2007 there was a scandal about Karl Rove deleting his emails while he worked at the White House. Pundit hacks like Rove benefit from our short memories, as they attack Hillary now.
