Trump Toilet

Trump isn’t showing much respect to Congress these days. The president will not comply with any subpoenas from the House committees that are investigating him and the courts can’t do much about it because Trump’s term will be over by the time the courts come to any decisions. My cartoon shows Trump’s attitude about Congress.

This isn’t the first time I’ve drawn Trump on the toilet –here’s an oldie from a couple of years ago when it looked like Trump was spinning out and sinking with some forgettable issue of the moment.

Somehow I think Trump will have more visits to the cartoon toilet before long.

Christmas by van Leeuwen

Here’s a Christmas collection from photo realistic, Dutch cartoonist Bart van Leeuwan. Bart is new to Cagle.com and PoliticalCartoons.com and he is very different from what we’re used to seeing in political cartoons.

These Trump Christmas toys made me laugh. Bart knocks these realistic images out with the same frequency as normal cartoonists. I’m very interested to see if editors, who are typically averse to cartoons that are different, will accept photo realistic cartoons.

I think the two most common themes that foreign cartoonists apply to Americans are McDonalds and Superman. Bart certainly draws lots of pudgy Trump visiting McDonalds. Here’s Trump looking into the McDonalds window like a child peering into a toy store.

Add a Christmas tree and Trump’s everyday lunch becomes a Christmas cartoon.

Visit Bart’s archive to see much more. Bart has lots of recent Theresa May and Emmanuel Macron cartoons. His unique images make surprisingly powerful statements!

Blood or No Blood?

Editors don’t like blood. Cartoonists love blood. Evil despots around the world, like Syria’s Bashar Assad, are often drawn in a sea of blood. When editors see blood, they move onto the next cartoon. More blood, less ink. So I did two versions of today’s Trump vs Michael Cohen cartoon. I’ll keep an eye out for which version editors choose –but I don’t expect any surprise.
