Inflation Woes: Top Ten Cartoons of the Week

Inflation remains a big story across the country, so it’s not surprising that most of the top ten reprinted cartoons this week touched on the rising prices hitting just about everyone.

This week also saw Americans scrambling to finish their tax returns, a universally-despised activity shared by cartoonists and editors alike. And a couple of COVID-19 cartoons made it into the mix this week, as cases once again begin to rise across the country.

And here are the Top Ten …

#1

John Darkow took the #1 most reprinted spot, the first of two cartoons John has in the Top Ten.

#2

Pat Bagley took second place with his first of two in the Top Ten.

#3

John Darkow took third place.

#4

Jeff Koterba nabbed 4th place.

#5

Dick Wright claims the five-spot with his first of two cartoons in theTop Ten.

#6

Guy Parsons came in sixth.

#7

Dave Whamond nabs seventh place.

#8

Jeff Koterba took 8th place with his second cartoon in the Top Ten.

#9

Top Ten Cartoons of the Week – April 24, 2021

Here are our most reprinted cartoons of the week ending April 24th, 2021.

This was a week for conservatives as Gary McCoy took the top spot and Dick Wright had the most reprints overall for his combined cartoons. Congratulations to Dave Whamond  and John Darkow who each have two cartoons in the Top Ten.

And kudos to the other cartoonists on the list!  Jeff KoterbaBruce Plante, Adam Zyglis, Steve Sack and Dave Granlund.

Just about half of America’s daily, paid circulation newspapers (around 700 papers) subscribe to CagleCartoons.com. These are the cartoons that editors picked last week.

Our reader supported site, Cagle.com, still needs you!  Journalism is threatened with the pandemic that has shuttered newspaper advertisers. Some pundits predict that a large percentage of newspapers won’t survive the pandemic economic slump, and as newspapers sink, editorial cartoonists who depend on newspapers sink too, and along with them, our Cagle.com site.

The world needs political cartoonists more now than ever. Please consider supporting Cagle.com and visit Cagle.com/heroes.

Cagle.com needs your support!
I’d like to urge all of our fans to contribute to Cagle.com at this difficult time. We don’t run advertising in our newsletters or on Cagle.com  –we depend on our readers for support. Now our small business (CagleCartoons.com) and the editorial cartooning profession as a whole, are facing possible extinction as our newspaper clients are suddenly failing. Newspapers are simply not paying their bills as their advertisers have been shut down during the pandemic. Please take a look at our Cagle.com/Heroes page, take a look at my video below, and consider making a contribution. If enough fans make a small, monthly contribution, we can save Cagle.com and keep our cartoonists drawing, at a time when the cartoons are more important than ever. We need you.

Five Great Earth Day Cartoons

Happy Earth Day! Each April 22, Earth Day marks the anniversary of what many consider the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. The idea came to founder Gaylord Nelson, then a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, after witnessing the aftermath of the horrific 1969 oil spill in Santa Barbara, California.

Every year around this time, cartoonists weigh in on the fate of the planet, so I thought I’d pull together five terrific cartoons about Earth Day for your environment-loving enjoyment…
