Trump Chokes the Post Office

President Trump has declared war on mail-in voting, a process that is safe regarding the coronavirus, but not so safe for the fortunes of Republicans who don’t fare so well when the process of voting is made easier for voters. Trump also doesn’t like the Washington Post, and by extension, the Post’s owner Jeff Bezos, who runs Amazon.com, which uses the Post Office a lot. Trump appears to be tearing down the Post Office so that it would lose the public’s confidence to process mail-in votes.

People ask me to show my messy sketches, so here you go. I printed out the USPS logo and taped it into place.

Here are my favorite, recent Post Office cartoons by the CagleCartoonists!

China Digests Hong Kong

While the world is absorbed by the coronavirus, China’s nominal legislature decided take away any doubts about Hong Kong independent “special status.” Protestors are now facing the full brunt of China’s heavy hand. I drew this as the Chinese panda digesting Hong Kong, and burping.

I debated whether I should make the burpy umbrellas yellow; yellow umbrellas were the symbol of Hong Kong’s protestors in 2014, and more recent protests have embraced black umbrellas as protection against projectiles and water cannons from police, so I went with black

There aren’t many cartoons about Hong Kong now and my cartoon probably won’t get much ink – still, this should be a time for Hong Kong cartoons. I have selected some of my favorite Hong Kong protest cartoons from the past few years. At the end there are three Hong Kong cartoons from Luojie, our CagleCartoonist who draws for the China Daily, China’s official English language newspaper and voice of the communist government.

Here’s another one of mine …

Snails and Salt!

Snails and salt are a great political cartoon cliché. We’ve all drawn a bunch of them.

That’s Trump’s stooge, Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker as the salt shaker foaming Mueller’s slow moving investigation. Snails have a tough time with salt, as explained in my TRUE! cartoon below …

Here’s one of my snail oldies, from 2005 when George W. Bush was being slimed by FEMA’s slow response to the Hurricane Katrina disaster in New Orleans.

I love snail cartoons.

Trump Dances with China

I realize this cartoon is a bit ambiguous. Perhaps Trump is wrestling with China. Maybe Trump is “facing off” with China. Maybe there is something sexy going on with China that we can’t quite see. It is hard to tell. I went with “dance.” The USA will soon be adding another $250,000,000,000+ of tariffs to Chinese imports, which will move China to retaliate in other ways.

I draw lots of Trump-critical cartoons, but this one isn’t one of them. I think Trump’s approach to China is long overdue. I even posted this one as a “Trump Friendly” cartoon on our CagleCartoons.com newspaper syndication site – although, that is probably ambiguous too.

I’ve drawn Trump and a Chinese dragon before.

Dragons don’t have to represent China, although the chinese style dragons are more fun to draw. Here’s the dragon cartoon I drew the day after the election, when Trump defeated Hillary.

TRUE COLOR!

This will be my last batch of TRUE cartoons for my blog. I watercolored these for some reason that I forget! Back in the 1990’s, when this ran in newspapers, it ran in black and white and there was no color, Sunday TRUE. Gotta love color!

TRUE Stupid Stuff 2!

Here’s another new batch of my old TRUE cartoons from the 1990’s – at least the ones that look like they could still be true. This is from a batch about government.

TRUE Crazy Stuff 2!

Here’s another batch of my TRUE syndicated newspaper cartoons from 1995. I’m culling out the cartoons that are not too stale to include in our PoliticalCartoons.com database and making little changes so that don’t seem too dated; sometimes that is hard and I have to delete some of my favorite oldies. I’m letting quite a few old style TVs and land line phones sneak through.

I suppose it is more interesting that so little has changed.
