This cartoon addresses Mitt Romney and how many people feel like he lacks certain human qualities such as empathy, thoughtfulness, and feelings. It portrays him as a cactus, which people relate to desolation and potential hurt. Perhaps the author is trying to say that a Romney presidency will cause us harm. Another possible explanation to this cartoon is that Romney is like a cactus in that he will defend himself against the negative verbal attacks of the Democrats with his prickly effective coat of economic knowledge. I believe the author may have meant for me to interpret this cactus in a different way that my young mind cannot fathom, or perhaps I did not hear the news of some event in which Romney was somehow involved with a cactus. Personally, this depiction of Romney reminds me of the green depiction of Frankenstein’s monster that I have only seen in pictures and short video clips. That possible correlation points back to Romney’s inability to be likeable in the same manner of Obama. In all sincerity, can you think of anyone less likeable than Frankenstein’s despicable looking monster? Hopefully, Romney doesn’t pop up in your mind, even though that would be quite laughable.

I consider myself to be somewhat familiar with current events, including the 2012 Presidential Race, but I haven't a clue what this cartoon is trying to convey. Hey, Cagle, post an explanation…unless you think Joseph's response suffices.
