My Osama bin Laden Cartoons

Like every other cartoonist, my week has been consumed with the death of Osama and Abbotabad, the location of the sprawling complex in the suburbs of Islamabad where bin Laden hid. How did Pakistan not know bin Laden was there? Them must have been out cashing our $1.5 billion check:

One of the more peculiar aspects of the bin Laden story is the fact that we buried his body at sea:

It took long enough to find Osama. Luckily, he gets special treatment:

Even if Obama had decided to release bin Laden’s death photos, the birthers still wouldn’t be satisfied:

Now President Obama has a macho new look.

All good cartoons. Obviously you have talent, and a sense of humor. By your editorial cartoons, you make hard things easier to bear, easier to understand.
Still… I’d still like to see a blue ribbon panel querying those “who were supposed to be there”, and showing us that positively, that the “menace man” is dead. Of course, the menace — his legacy, is still there. It is his followers, now, that we must either make peace with, or sadly, have to continue to guard against. This is not a matter of politics. This is a matter that, in our days, there have been just too many scams, and we are not so trusting of officialdom any more. Besides, OBL tore a big hole in our lives, that on some instinctual /visceral level, I need to “see for sure” that this man is gone. I cannot explain it, but “until I see, I do not know”. I do not need to kick the body, I am not like that. And I am not throwing shoes at the President. Also, leaving out the extremists, I think there are many others like me. Even worse, until the proof is shown, his followers will hold this over our heads to boot. And I would like to get out from under that sword of Damocles.
