TRUE Crazy Stuff 3!

Most of this new batch of my old TRUE panels came from my collection about entertainment and celebrities. I ended up killing most of these cartoons because they were so stale. I forget how different things were back in 1995. This edited batch of cartoons makes 1995 seem not so different from today – even though one cartoons shows a guy reading a book on the toilet; we may not read books anymore, but toilets haven’t changed much.

Star Trek is still familiar 23 years later. Mattel’s Barbie is still popular, but other toys in my TRUE cartoons are forgotten – for example Barney the Dinosaur was big in 1995. I forgot all about Barney. The first cartoon below is about Lassie, who we remembered as a doggie celebrity back in 1995. Do people remember Lassie now?

TRUE Crazy Stuff 2!

Here’s another batch of my TRUE syndicated newspaper cartoons from 1995. I’m culling out the cartoons that are not too stale to include in our PoliticalCartoons.com database and making little changes so that don’t seem too dated; sometimes that is hard and I have to delete some of my favorite oldies. I’m letting quite a few old style TVs and land line phones sneak through.

I suppose it is more interesting that so little has changed.

TRUE Kids 3!

Here’s another collection of my TRUE cartoons about kids!

I’m loading my oldies into our PoliticalCartoons.com database, and making some editorial decisions on what to edit or cut. These TRUE cartoons ran in newspapers back in 1995. It is interesting to see how many of them hold up well over the years. Things don’t change much. The TRUE cartoons that look stale have land-line phones, phone booths, and old style televisions. I’m culling out the cartoons that refer to events and politicians in 1995 – after all, our database is an online store and I don’t think people will be interested in licensing stale cartoons. Political cartoons in general go stale fast, which is both a problem and a blessing for us.

Trump and Twitter

Here’s my new TwitterTrump with the media.

I searched our database for other “Trump hair on the Twitter bird” cartoons for this blog post just now, and I found this similar Nate Beeler from some months ago.

Ouch! That is pretty similar and Trump looks poised to barf. We’re getting to a saturation point on Trump with Twitter-bird cartoons; there are thousands.  Twitter-bird in Trump’s nesty hair is pretty common, as are Twitter birds pooping on and swarming around Trump in all manner of aggressive scenarios. Just go to PoliticalCartoons.com and search for “Twitter” to see the swarmy swarm.

Doggie Sexual Harassment!

Celebrities and politicians are getting slammed with sexual harassment allegations from years ago. It must be the same in the doggie world.

I hate to draw cartoons about crime. Cartoons about bad guys are usually lousy cartoons because they only bash the bad guys, and it doesn’t add much to the public debate to say “that bad guy is bad” in a cartoon. The sexual harassment debate is different because it looks like tribal loyalty “trumps” moral conviction. One accuser against Senator Al Franken, who accepts his apology, is a cause célèbre for Republicans who call the many Trump accusers “fake news.” The same was true of president Bill Clinton; Democrats dismissed Clinton’s many accusers as liars. It seems there are no tribes in Hollywood as accused celebrities are dropping like flies.

Here’s a cartoon I drew about Judge Roy Moore’s supporters last week. The air is thick with hypocrisy these days.

It may seem like sexual harassment hasn’t been in the news until now, when there is little else in the news – but sexual harassment is an evergreen topic with cartoonists. Here’s one I drew about Bill O’Reilly.

And here are two I drew about sexual harassment in the military.

Here’s one on Bill Cosby.

Here’s one on Trump and his infamous Access Hollywood tape.

And I’ll round this out with a couple of Anthony Weiner cartoons.

Here’s my Anthony Weiner infinity cartoon.

Hurricane Newsman

With all the hurricane news, I brought back this oldie for newspapers this weekend. Most news stories don’t change much – but hurricanes seem to get much bigger as time goes by. It is reassuring to know that global warming is fake news, or I might be worried about how things are going.

O’Reilly Kicked Out

I’ve enjoyed the O’Reilly news. It is so nice to have a story that doesn’t involve Trump or possible nuclear annihilation. Here’s my new cartoon on O’Reilly getting the boot.

Here’s an O’Reilly oldie I drew 13 years ago. He looks so much younger …

And we’ve gotten more O’Reilly cartoons today, here are some I liked, below. I think O’Reilly is hard to draw. I have to fiddle around with his face for quite a while before I’m happy with is. Rick McKee didn’t have any trouble with the O’Reilly in his cartoon below …

This Ed Wexler cartoon is a great Trump caricature …

And I liked this David Fitzsimmons “Killing” cartoon …

The Sky is Falling!

We hear from editors who want more “pro-Trump” cartoons – but editorial cartoons are a negative art form. Cartoons that support anything are lousy cartoons. And there are few conservative cartoonists to begin with. I drew what could be considered a “pro-Trump” cartoon below.

I think this is about as close as we’re going to get to “pro-Trump” cartoons over the next four years – cartoons that bash third parties, like crybaby Democrats or media bashing cartoons like mine.

I drew this one as a live stream on Twitch.tv – you can watch in the videos below. The first one shows me doing the rough sketch and final line art …

And the next video shows me coloring the cartoon in Photoshop …

Trump Media Circus Clowns

Here’s a pro-Trump cartoon. This has been a bad week for Trump as he fumbled a question about abortion and his campaign manager was charged with assaulting a reporter.

I’m sympathetic to Trump in his fumble of the abortion question. The pro-lifers insist that abortion is murder, except that they don’t want to respond to the “murderers” with punishment, as though they are actual murderers. “Murder” is just a meaningless word for pro-lifers, chosen because it evokes a strong, emotional response. The abortion debate is like a religion, where arguments are honed over years of practice. Trump is new to the abortion debate, as a new politician, and hasn’t polished his responses to conform to the hypocrisy of the pro-life conservatives he is courting. I’m fine with him dialing his comments back after being advised of the equally ridiculous, acceptable response he should have given to woo his new, pro-life audience.

This cartoon also responds to the media kerfuffle over Trump’s campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski’s alleged assault of reporter Michelle Fields, formerly of the conservative news site Breitbart News. I have to agree with Trump on this one. From the videotape, the incident looks like nothing more than an opportunity for Fields to cause some trouble for Trump – the media clowns have certainly run with it.

In the next video below, you can watch me coloring the cartoon in Photoshop.
