Sharpie Hurricane!

President Trump seemed to be sure that Hurricane Dorian was headed to Alabama –so sure that he reportedly altered a weather map with a Sharpie pen to change the projected path of the storm, causing a media storm. Here’s my cartoon.

I was thinking of doing a graduated tonal background. I thought about making the line look like it was on the plane of the ground by messing around in Photoshop, and finally I thought –the messy, hand-drawn line with no background is funnier.

Cartoonists have a special relationship with Sharpie markers, and we have a flood of Trump/Sharpie cartoons blowing in!  Here are my favorites! This one is by Taylor Jones

This one by John Cole may have a little sexual innuendo going on.

This one is by David Fitzsimmons

Bill Day‘s “More Genius” cartoon made me laugh …

This one is by Steve Sack

This one is by Rick McKee

One could argue that Pinocchio gives full employment to editorial cartoonists – if editorial cartoonists had full employment. This one is by Kevin Siers.

Here’s one by our clever Canadian, Dave Whamond.

Doggie Sexual Harassment!

Celebrities and politicians are getting slammed with sexual harassment allegations from years ago. It must be the same in the doggie world.

I hate to draw cartoons about crime. Cartoons about bad guys are usually lousy cartoons because they only bash the bad guys, and it doesn’t add much to the public debate to say “that bad guy is bad” in a cartoon. The sexual harassment debate is different because it looks like tribal loyalty “trumps” moral conviction. One accuser against Senator Al Franken, who accepts his apology, is a cause célèbre for Republicans who call the many Trump accusers “fake news.” The same was true of president Bill Clinton; Democrats dismissed Clinton’s many accusers as liars. It seems there are no tribes in Hollywood as accused celebrities are dropping like flies.

Here’s a cartoon I drew about Judge Roy Moore’s supporters last week. The air is thick with hypocrisy these days.

It may seem like sexual harassment hasn’t been in the news until now, when there is little else in the news – but sexual harassment is an evergreen topic with cartoonists. Here’s one I drew about Bill O’Reilly.

And here are two I drew about sexual harassment in the military.

Here’s one on Bill Cosby.

Here’s one on Trump and his infamous Access Hollywood tape.

And I’ll round this out with a couple of Anthony Weiner cartoons.

Here’s my Anthony Weiner infinity cartoon.

Some Still Think Obama is a Muslim

Republican voters in Alabama and Mississippi might have a hard time deciding which Presidential candidate they want to win the primary, but they agree on one thing – President Obama is a Muslim.

According to a new poll released by Public Policy Polling, a whopping 52 percent of Mississippi respondents believe Obama worships Allah. In Alabama the number is slightly lower at 45 percent. Only 12 and 14 percent, respectively, correctly identified Obama as Christian ( probably so they could criticize him over Jeremiah Wright).

As long as we’re still talking about this, here are some funny cartoons…
